moVED TO nORTH CAROLINA
After spending a few years in biloxi, ms I wanted to see snow again, so i moved back to nc to pursue my education. I graduated high school and started an internship through my church in mobile, al at the mowa choctaw friends center.
As an intern i did everything from rake leaves, teach students, and learn how to eat chitlins and crawfish. I learned how to play guitar and how to use what i had to teach creative and engaging lessons for teenagers.

Student Ministry and Design
I jumped into a youth pastor position and quickly learned everything involved:
Lessons plans - building relationships - visiting the school - going to events - meeting with parents - building a volunteer team - hosting service projects and the fun stuff
building websites, social media posts, sermon graphics, designing curriculums, staging the room for themes, and creating an engaging and welcoming atmosphere for teenagers.
As my skillset grew in design, i began to learn adobe and leave behind
microsoft publisher (*yuck).

Walked out with a job
i stepped away from youth ministry and into a creative director role at a new church
i was very unqualified but they were willing to help me grow. i also stepped into a
sign shop near my house and walked in with a resume, a wimpy portfolio,
and name dropped my wife's employer.
I walked out with a job and began to be mentored by many of the designers and
sign production crew.

wE HAD A GOOD ROUTINE GOING. mON-FRI 9-5 JOB. LEARNING DESIGN AND SIGN PRODUCTION. CHURCH ON THE WEEKEND. WE WERE GROWING OUR FAMILY....THEN COVID GOT ME LAID OFF.
I PICKED UP AT THE CHURCH PART-TIME AND BEGAN TO WONDER ABOUT STARTING MY OWN DESIGN BUSINESS.
WE AREN'T THERE YET, IT'S A BIG AND SCARY UNDERTAKING.
SO IM DRIVING FOR AMAZON PAYING OFF OUR DEBT LOOKING FOR THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY
WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AND FREELANCING.
